De FBI bouwt een grote biometrische database. E.U.-landen kunnen elkaars DNA-databanken raadplegen. Wereldwijd werd de privacy-bescherming verder uitgehold, zo blijkt uit onderzoek van Privacy International. Nederland scoort 2.1 op de Privacy International Privacy Ranking 2007, een verslechtering tegenover 2006. België scoort met 2,7 beter dan onze noordeburen, maar de score is toch slechter tegenover vorig jaar. Een score tussen 2 en 3 betekent: “few safeguards, widespread practice of surveillance”.
